Dr. Sandeep Marwah Inaugurates Session on “Black July” at Constitution Club, Calls for Global Awareness and Compassion. New Delhi, July 27, 2025: A powerful and reflective session commemorating Black July—the tragic anti-Tamil pogrom in Sri Lanka that took place in July 1983—was inaugurated by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, at the Constitution Club of India. The event aimed to raise awareness about the horrors of ethnic violence and promote peace, unity, and empathy in society.
Black July remains a dark chapter in Sri Lanka’s history, during which thousands of Tamils were killed, displaced, and their properties destroyed, igniting a civil war that lasted for decades. The session brought together scholars, peace activists, community leaders, and members of civil society to reflect on the causes and consequences of the tragedy.
Addressing the large gathering, Dr. Sandeep Marwah emphasized the importance of remembering such incidents not just as history, but as urgent lessons for humanity. “Let us not forget the pain and suffering that ethnic violence can cause. It is our duty to create awareness about genocides like Black July so that nothing of this magnitude ever happens again. We must live with love, compassion, and understanding to make this world a better place for all,” he said.
The event concluded with a call for unity, respect for diversity, and proactive efforts toward global peacebuilding and human rights protection. Hence Dr. Sandeep Marwah Inaugurates Session on “Black July” at Constitution Club, Calls for Global Awareness and Compassion.
