SET HIGHEST STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONALISM IN MEDIA – SUNIL DANG

In his forceful and thought provoking address to the students of University of Media Arts Study Centre Asian Academy of Film & TV, the chairperson of INS and a member of the Press Council of India Sunil Dang urged the media professionals to be responsive and responsible to their mass audience. A single minded devotion to the chosen field work is the key to the success, he added. Complementing Prof. Sandeep Marwah on setting up the first film University of India, the seasoned bureaucrat and intellectual C K Sharma said that going to a movie theatre or taking up filmmaking and television presentation is no longer considered disreputable. The makers of entertainment products must ensure that in their work the baser emotions of the viewers are kept under check and they are shielded from unethical temptation, he added. The noted sculpturist and a recipient Padamashri award Ram Sutar asked the students to bring to the silver screen to life in a manner which may bring credit to the academy.

HIGH COMMISSION OF MAURITIUS VISITS FILM CITY

The Mauritius High Commission in India H.E Mr. Daneelal Seewoo said that putting knowledge andskills to proper use is much more important than merely acquiring them. He was addressing the students of Asian Academy of Film & TV. He urged the film and television professionals to try and build a happy, healthy and prosperous society through their work of art. None has the right to hurt the sentiments of an individual or sectors of the society under the pretext of the freedom for expression, he added. Complimenting Prof. Sandeep Marwah on establishing the first Film University of India the High Commissioner said that nationals of Mauritius may also benefit form the institution of higher learning. The High Commissioner also invited the Indian filmmakers to shoot their films in Mauritius. In his thought provoking address the well known artist Jiten Hazarika advised the outgoing students to be above all a good human being. Director, National Institute of Fashion Designing, Ms. Jyoti Khera and the well known social worker Ms. Kamla Prem also shared their thoughts with the students on this occasion.

KAREENA STARRER FIRST MOVIE OF 2004 GOES ON THE FLOOR

Movie Moghul Boney Kapoor ’s fifth megaventure currently in the pipeline Milenge-Milenge was launched on the 3rd January with the Union Minister Vijay Goel clapping the muhurat shot at Marwah Studios. Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor who are in the lead role, music director Himesh Reshammiya, Cameraman S. Sriram and other member of the crew of Milenge-Milenge were joined by cinestars Anil Kapoor and Sridevi who had specially flown in from Mumbai to be present on this memorable occasion. Huge crowd had earlier collected at Marwah Studios to see their favourite superstars. Without disclosing the story line, the director of this movie Satish Kaushik hoped that Milenge-Milenge would be a great all time entertainer. Other present on this occasion included Boney Kapoor himself, co-producer of the film Sandeep Marwah, beauty queen of yester years Nafisa Ali, singer Satish Babbar, film exhibitor Ponty Chaddha, theatre personality Ashok Lal, member of the national press and numerous distinguished invitees.

RENOWNED FILM ARTISTS IN FILM CITY

The well known cine artist, director and producer Joginder said life is indeed god ´ s best gift to us and every moment of it must be lived purposefully and properly. Inviting the outgoing students of Asian Academy of Film & TV to join his production house, he mentioned that his latest feature film Bindiya Aur Bandook – Part-II is ready for the release. Joginder was addressing the students on the 41st convocation of this academy. On a request from the audience the well known lyricist Santosh Anand who was also present on this occasion, rendered some of his popular film songs. Forcefully stating that work is worship he added that filmmaking indeed demands dedicated efforts. Director of the academy Prof. Sandeep Marwah informed the gathering that film producer Boney Kapoor has agreed to associate three AAFT trained professionals with the production his latest film Milenge-Milenge. Delivering the convocation address the Karnatak Sangeet exponent Dr. Leela Omchery urged the students to develop the sprit of oneness beside honing their skills. Chairman, High Power Committee on Professional Education of UP Technical University Dr. S. Mahalingam, veteran journalist Dr. Aziz Burney, renowned television producer Lalit Behl and well known event manager Bhushan Khandari also shared their views with the students, on this occasion.

PRODUCTION OF FILMS IS VITAL TO SURVIVAL OF NOIDA FILM CITY – CINE STAR SRIDEVI

Formally launching the bouquet of 31 short digital films being produced by Sandeep Marwah, the showman of Indian film industry, Boney Kapoor said that film producers have always been receiving valuable support in their work in this part of the world from Marwah Films & Video Studios. He was, perhaps referring to shooting of the scenes of films like frame, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Sirf Tum, Loafer, Pukaar, Run, and Bewafa which is currently under production in Noida and other locations in the national capital region. Taking note of the numerous feature films and large number of television programs shot at Marwah Studios in the past 12 years both by the established filmmaking and the newcomers, he remarked that the filmmakers have to rely on the production houses for providing the necessary professional support in the real sense of the word. Hoping that with the support of the state govt. Noida Film City will soon be humming with activity, Sandeep Marwah disclosed that his passion for filmmaking had driven him to produce nearly 800 short fictional films to this day. Speaking on this occasion the heartthrob of millions cinestar Sridevi also lauded the inimitable efforts of Sandeep Marwah for putting Noida on the film-map of the world. At the end of the function Sandeep Marwah said that the Society of Media Arts have decided to request Boney Kapoor to be the first Chancellor of the newly established First Film University of India – “University of Media Arts”. Accepting this proposal Boney Kapoor declared that he would fully support various institutions of this Society. Dr.S. Mahalingam has been proposed to be the Pro-vice Chancellor of the University.

THE CAST OF INDO-FRENCH FEATURE FILM AT FILM CITY

Jean-Marie Lamour the first French actor to perform in an Indian movie and who is playing the lead role in English language feature film “Hari Om”, said that he is both proud and happy to be in this Indo-French joint production. The internationally renowned French actor was being honoured by Prof. Sandeep Marwah for his outstanding performances on the stage, films and television during his visit to Asian Academy of Film & Television. Jean-Marie Lamour advised the would be actors never to copy other performers. Addressing the student Vijay Raaz, one of the Indian actor accompanying Jean-Marie Lamour, said that actor has to know himself thoroughly and be a good human being. An actor has also to be versatile in his performance he added. The producer of this feature film has invited AAFT alumni to work with their production house located at Mumbai.

LOOK OBJECTIVELY AT FILMS – PAHLAJ NIHALANI

Expressing his concern about TV and print journalists imposing their personal opinion of a newly released film on unsuspecting cine-goers, the President of Association of Motion Picture & Television Producers Pahlaj Nihalani urged them to look positively at the work of film artistes. He was delivering the convocation address to the students of University of Media Arts’ Asian Academy of Film & Television. Describing filmmaking as a beautiful profession to be in, Pahlaj Nihalani said above all a film professional should be a good human being. Lauding the efforts of Prof. Sandeep Marwah for promoting film and television production in north India, Pahlaj Nihalani offered all possible help to the men and women trained by the academy. Addressing the students the diplomat from Turkmenistan Dr. Chinar Rustomova said that educational institution should be treated as a holy place. She hoped that the nationals of her country will soon be taking advantage of the training opportunities offered by the academy. The bright Indian Police Service Officer Piyush Mordia called upon the producers to make films and television programmes on socially relevant subjects. Speaking on this occasion the well known journalist Santosh Bhartiya remarked that the television journalism scene is all set for a major change and advised the new entrants to this profession to equip themselves adequately to meet its requirement.

WELSH TRADE INTERNATIONAL OFFICIAL AT UNIVERSITY OF MEDIA ARTS

University of Media Arts in the national capital region recently played host to Ms. Larry Wilson who was leading a high powered mission sent by Welsh Assembly Government to establish alliances between companies in the Wales region of the United Kingdom and their counterparts in India. She held detailed discussions on matters relating to higher education in the Wales region and India with Vice Chancellor of University of Media Arts Prof. Sandeep Marwah. The visiting dignitary went round the facilities being provided by Asian Business School of the university to the students of the business management and to the media processionals in the making by Asian School of Media Studies.

PRESERVE CULTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH WORKS OF ART – GENERAL K.M SETH

In his thought provoking address to the students of University of Media Arts’ Study Centre at Noida, His Excellency Lt. Gen. K.M. Seth, PVSM, AVSM, Governor of Chhattisgarh called upon General K M Seth & sandeep marwahthe artists to try and preserve the rich Indian cultural heritage through their work.Nature’s bounty to Chhattisgarh region, the amazing Chitrakot fall and the 500 feet deep natural cave in Bastar area could be used to provide a wonderful setting for the movies, the Hon’ble Governor added. He complemented, Prof. Sandeep Marwah and Mr. Boney Kapoor for taking the initiative to set up an institution of higher learning which will focus mainly on media studies.
