The 39th training session of the AAFT was inaugurated by the former Union Minister Arif Mohammad Khan and also formally released a book titled Abhinay penned by Prof Sandeep Marwah on this occasion. Addressing the students and the other invitees‚ the former minister said that the ongoing war against Iraq was a one sided affair and against the norms of humanity. Adding that India had more than a hundred TV channels today and the kind of programs to be shown were to be decided the responsible representatives from the media.

Laxmi Narayan Goel‚ Director Zee Telefilms said that India was far ahead of others in the field of media and broadcasting. Speaking further he added that this required large number of trained reporters‚ cameramen and directors and that this need could be fulfilled by best training institutes alone. He also said that he was feeling proud to address the students of such a world renowned institute as AAFT from super film stars and directors would surely reach the world of cinema. He also said that he had no words to describe the contribution made by Prof. Sandeep Marwah. Suparna Diwan suggested to the students to refrain from using the synthetic chemicals for make up but use only the natural resources for the human body itself was a factory of its own for this purpose. Director MTV Aman Mangat suggested to explore further opportunities to make programs of an international quality.

A program cum workshop of music and dance was organized for the deprived children of the city at AAFT recently under the guidance of its Director Prof. Sandeep Marwah. The objective was to bring the children of the lesser privileged into the mainstream of society. Addressing the mammoth gathering assembled on the occasion‚ Minister for Irrigation‚ Government of UP Nawab Singh Nagar said that the commendable and exemplary work being done by the AAFT for the deprived children was indeed praiseworthy.

He also added that despite having been surrounded all the time in the world of glamour offered by the Electronic media‚ remaining actively involved in the well being of the downtrodden on the part of Prof. Sandeep Marwah was a unique example by itself. Describing Prof. Sandeep Marwah as the pride of the Noida city‚ Nagar announced that he would shortly be requesting the Honourable President of India to confer an award upon him soon. Former chief secretary to the Government of UP‚ Brijendra Sahai described Prof. Marwah’s effort as a historic step in this direction. Organizer of the workshop Joti Shrivastava said that art was not a private property of a section of the society and if the children belonging to the under privileged classes could be encouraged properly‚ starting results could be experienced. Speaking further she added that the state administration was extending all its help in deputing the children trained though this workshop at various National festivals and programs of similar prominence. The large contingent of the children present on the occasion presented a fascinating program of music towards the end that won instant applause from the large audience.

Coinciding with the auspicious ceremony of launch and the mahurat shot of Tutu Sharma’s forthcoming film Allwyn Kalicharan at the film city in Noida‚ its entire crew visited the Asian Academy of Film & Television the Marwah Studios recently. The crew was accompanied by other dignitaries including Member of Parliament Amar Singh‚ renowned producer Boney Kapoor‚ eminent director Satish Kaushik for blessing the launch with their greetings and best wishes.The film casts the never ageing versatile national award winner actor Anil Kapoor in the lead role. Looking charming and fresh Anil Kapoor turned up exactly in the same get up as he is to be seen in this movie.

Tutu Sharma was accompanied by his glamorous better half Padmini Kohlapuri‚ a renowned actress of the time‚ taking charge of the presentations too. Tejaswani Kohlapuri was the other star present on the occasion. Padmini and Tutu Sharma lauded the efforts of Prof. Sandeep Marwah for the gradual progress of the film city of Noida adding that it was largely due to the initial hard-work put in by Prof. Marwah that it had become possible to shooting movies in this film City. Prof. Marwah expressed his happiness over the fact that every big director was getting attracted towards the film city of Noida for availability of an excellent environment‚ world class shooting facilities and proximity to capturing exotic landscapes. Young director of the film‚ Anurag Kashyap said the opportunity to shooting this movie in Delhi the place of his birth and upbringing was like a long cherished dream coming true for him. After meeting the students of the AAFT‚ Kashyap complimented Prof. Marwah for the potential to discover perfect talent for the movies from this academy. He also announced that his movie would be released by Nov. 26‚ 2003.

Asian Academy of Film & Television trained actresses Swati & Hena accompanied by the Producer/Director of the feature film ’ Pyar-Ki-Dhun’ visited their alma-mater to formally express their gratitude to Prof. Sandeep Marwah and others. Addressing the students Swati with several degrees in business management , said that there is no business like ’ Show-business’ .
She added that the training she received at AAFT was extremely, helpful to her in acting for the camera.Hena choosing to take to acting after studying Television Drama and Media Arts in London, joined AAFT to receive training in the art of verbal and non-verbal communications. Fielding a volley of questions, Hena admitted that initially she did suffer from the ’ camera-fright’ .She was of the opinion that an actor has be to be above all a good human being in his/her day to day life.In a forthright and forceful address, the talented film Producer/Director Samiran Das Gupta stated that his formal training in film making and meticulour planning helped him in completing the production and post production work of ’ Pyar Ki Dhun’ on schedule and to avoid wasteful expenditure.Explaining the finer aspects of the artistic and business angles of film-making, this creative genius lamented that due attention to the recording and mixing of sound which are all important to a film, does not receive due attention in the Indian film industry.He disclosed that this film has been mostly shot in the most exclusive locales of London .He also mentioned that this is the only film in the world which contains the scenes of the rare Millenium night celebrations on december 31, 1999 in London.Samiran Das Gupta was proud of the superb overall technical quality of the visuals and the sound track of his megaventure which has been made possible by using the state of the art techniques and technology.Asian Academy is indeed proud of all of its for illustrious alumni Swati, Hena, Nicolas and Anita who have played lead roles in this film along with Milind Sonam and half a dozen celebrities including Nirmal Pande,Saeed Jaffrey, Prem Chopra and Satish Shah. ’ Pyar- Ki Dhun’ is indeed a landmark and a milestone in the history of Asian Academy of Film & Television.

The renowned Mumbai film Producer / Director Jagmohan Mundra ’ recently called on the National Chairman of International Film & television Research centre Prof. Sandeep Marwah while looking for new subjects for his films.His latest film Bawander is gripping social commentary revolving around a real life character Bhanwari Devi who is victim of the crime committed against her .His films explore social issues and examine the mysteries of male-female relationship with finesse. Union Minister for coal Syed Shahnwaz Hussain appealed to the film makers and the television producers not to paint all the politicians with the same brush.The hon’ ble minister was addressing the students of Asian Academy of Film & Television.Referring to the ’ hero’ and the ’ villian’ on screen, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said there are both honest and good as well as dishonest and bad people in the political arena.

He pointed out that each one has to proove one’ s competence to suceed in any human endeavour including the show world.Conceding the decline in the standard of public life, the hon’ ble minister appealed to the film makers to be blanched in their presentation of the image of the politicians.Syed Shahnawaz Hussain forcefully added that everything is difficult to achieve, but nothing is impossible to a willing mind.Earlier welcoming the hon’ ble minister, the former secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting Bhaskar Ghose, noted theatre personality Sita Raina, and Dr Mahesh Sharma of Kailash Hospital, Prof Sandeep Marwah said that despite challenges of all kind AAFT has remained steadfast in its objectives and it has not fallen by the wayside like many others.Admitting that the record of the govt funded film schools is rather bleak, Bhasker Ghose expressed his satisfaction on over AAFT becoming one of the finest film institutes in the world without the govt. support.He impressed upon the students that sincerity, dedication and hardwork pays in life.Pointing out that there are no set rules for acting, Sita Raina admitted that the work of an actor is really challenging.Mentioning that discretion is often the better part of valour, Dr Mahesh Sharma advised the students not to be rigid while tackling problems and dealing with the people.Zaib Khan an illustrious past student of AAFT, expressing his gratitude to the academy he advised the students to be above all a good human being for surviving in the show-world.
