The renowned veteran journalist and currently the Editor of Bennett Coleman Group of Companie’ s ’ Sandhya Times’ described the daily newspaper as the ’ art-movie’ and tabloid as the ’ commercial movie’ .He was speaking at a ’ Seminar on Journalism’ organised by the Asian Academy of Film & TV.Sat Soni admitted that newspapers are facing serious problems due to emergence of satellite based television news channels. This coupled with the complexities of day to day urban life which leaves very little time for the reader to go through the newspaper, is posing serious challenge to the print media.Sat Soni mentioned that while the cost of creating the’ centre-page’ of a daily is the highest, ironically,it is the even for an experimenced journalist, to interview people – particularly the celebrities.The well-known and familiar face on the screen – Manoj raghuvanshi was also a guest speaker at the seminar.He mentioned several interesting incidents from his long years in this field to explain the duties and responsibilities of a television journalist.Manoj Raghuvanshi emphasized the need of prefect coordination among the member’ s of the team covering of an event for television.Prof. Sandeep Marwah also made few observations on the subject.Answering questions put to the distinguished journalists.Sat Soni accepted that it is indeed unethical on the part of a journalist to publicise criminals.

Students of Asian Academy of Film & Television gave a standing ovation to the well known lyricist Santosh Anand when he consented to render his popular song ’ Pyar Ki Na Toote Kadi, Pyar Kar Le Ghari Do Ghari’ .The aged and not so physically fit creative genius became highly emotional while recalling his heydays in the film-industry.Welcoming the veteran film personality prof. Sandeep Marwah, mentioned about Santosh Anand’ s long and fruitful association with Manoj Kumar and music composer Lakhshmi Kant Pyare Lal and remarked that a creative person does not retire as long as he is mentally and physically fit.Citing his own example, Dr D.K. Mittal a self made exponent of fine arts and successful, educationalist who was also presented on this occasion, said that where there is will there is a way. He forcefully added that one must have a strong will to succeed in life.he was of the view that systematic training has its our virtue and is helpful in every human endeavour.

Legal luminary and member of the parliament, Ravi Shankar Prasad advised the television journalists to be well read and generally well informed for succeeding in their profession.He was of the view that the journalist should be impartial, balance and rational while dealing with men and matters.Ravi Shankar Prasad was addressing the students of Asian Academy Of Film & Television. Welcoming the distinguished guests, Prof. Sandeep Marwah added that it is indeed debatable whether media should highlight the activities of criminals and antisocial elements or not.Well known television producer Khalid Sultan become emotional while recalling that as a freelance producer, he had recorded his first ever television programme at Marwah Films & Video Studio the early nineties.He also mentioned that beside technical competence,total dedication to the work is the key to success of a film or television producer.Television producer, Nirja Vohra who was also present on this occasion, recalled the long hours she had spent in the studio to grapple with the complexities of the television production work.She advised the students to plan their work in as much detail as the time would permit them to do so.

Sandeep Marwah said that good music irrespective of its origin, is a treat for the ears and the mind.The well known creative genius Ashok Soni who has been into films, television and music industries for several decades spoke very highly of the professional work being done by AAFT alumni in the industry.Later, on popular demand Ashok Soni rendered some of his lyrics with intense feeling.

In an obvious reference to the attack on NEW York’ s landmarks and Washington’ s Pentagon, the former union minister for information & Broadcasting Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said it is a defining moment in the history of mankind and we are indeed passing through difficult times.In this context he said that media attention demands sensitivity and in the name of sacred right to know media must not unwittingly tout for violence.
The former minister was delivering the valedictory address to the students of Asian Academy of Film & Television .Describing television as the most powerful medium of mass communication,he exhorted television journalists to use their skills with care as the images on the screen have a profound influence on shaping our ethics and our thoughts.Earlier welcoming the distinguished guests and the members of the national press , Prof Sandeep Marwah paid homage to those who had lost their lives in the USA.One minute silence was observed by the large gathering in the auditorium.Media baron and the managing editor of the Dainik jagran group of newspapers Sanjay Gupta said that television journalism being far more difficult to handle than print journalism, it is indeed a challenging vocation.He also asked the television journalists to handle television news with sensitivity.The renowned Delhi based music director Jawahar Wattal who was also present on the occasion wished that intensive training in sound recording might be provided by Asian Academy Of Film & Television.

The students of Asian Academy of Film & Television were thrilled to find in their midst the hear throb of millions the superstar of Indian films Madhavan.Addressing the students Madhvan recalled that he began his journey in the industry by anchoring the popular game show ’ TOL MOL KE BOL’ shot at Sandeep Marwah’ s Studios.R.Madhavan was accompanied by producer of his latest film ’ REHNA HAI TERE DIL MEIN’ ,Vasu Bhagwani who is better known for his blockbusters Hero Number One,Biwi Number One,Coolie Number One,Bade Mia Chote Mia and Tera Jadu Chal Gaya etc.

Answering questions from the students Madhavan said that success in the film industry comes to those ,who are well prepared when the opportunity presents itself.He further advised the students to take advantage of the systematic training being imparted at the academy and prepare themselves to meet the challenges of the competition in the industry.Answering another question Vasu Bhagwani said that it is now possible for them to produce a film with the support of financial institutions.These two film personalities were accompanied by the well-known film director Gautam Menon and screen play writer Vipul Shah.

The erstwhile popular child artist of Indian films and now a film producer-director, Junior Mehmood addressed the students Asian Academy of Film & television and regaled them in his characteristics style.He had made his debut in the feature film Brahmachari.Complimenting Prof. Sandeep Marwah for providing excellent need based film education and training he said that due to skyrocketing cost of production,it is no longer possible for the film industry to make use of untrained people.Answering question put to him by the students the distinguished visitor said that he keeps smiling to overcome the stress and strain of mastering the intricacies film making and achieving success in this field of performing arts.Junior Mehmood was accompanied by the renowned event manager of Mumbai Bhushan Khandhari

Well known journalist and member of parliament Rajiv Shukla said that India is indeed a reservor of talented artists.He added that one has to dive deep to locate the priceless pearls.The honable member of parliament was formally releasing the album of devotional songs of well known singer Ujjawala Sharma in Asian Academy of Film & Television.Rajiv Shukla stated that the entertainment business is all set to cross fifty thousand crore mark and very large number of trained and competent artists and technicians are required to sustain films,television & music industry.

He said that the potential of entertainment business to earn foreign exchange for the nation is next to that of information technology business.He urged Prof. Sandeep Marwah to arrange to provide training in music in the academy.Earlier voicing his concern on the decline in respectful attitude of the youth toward mothers, the additional chief executive officers of Noida Dev Datta said Ujjwala’ s music album will go a long way in arresting this rot.Speaking on this occasion Ujjwala Sharma said that abiding faith in and bountiful mercy of the goddess mother had inspired her to create this music album.Member of the UP legislative assembly Surender Singh Nagar,income tax commissioner Manoj Mishra and senior Indian administrative service officer Anil Kumar also spoke on this occasion and felicitated Ujjwala Sharma.

Former Principal of Film & Television Institute of India,Jagat Murari said that in many ways Asian Academy of Film & Television is much better than the govt.Supported Film & Television Institute of India.Addressing the students of AAFT he recollected the eventful days of the golden era of the film school he had once headed and admired the work done by FTII alumni like Subhash Ghai,Adoor Gopalkrishnan, Shatrughan Sinha,Jaya Bachan, and Shabana Azmi.Answering questions he said that good equipment does not automatically make good films and television programmes. He added that the artistic angle of production is very important.He advised the students to strive for excellence and originality in their work.Jagat Murari’ s address was by followed by a musical evening devoted to noted singer from Pakistan Shabbir Hussain who was invited by Prof. Sandeep Marwah to visit the academy.The noted radio and television artiste explained the finer aspects of the art of singing to the students and later kept them spellbound by rendering several of his popular songs and ghazals.
