In a star studded function organised by Asian Academy of Film & Television and Heartcare Foundation of India, Anil Kapoor formally released the slogan coined by these two organisations to create awareness about the deadly disease HIV / Aids. Beside Anil Kapoor, director of AAFT Prof. Sandeep Marwah, vice chairman Heartcare Foundation Dr. KK aggarwal, artists from Mumbai Farida Jalal, Anant Desai and Govind Namdev were also present.

This disease has assumed alarming proportions in India and the govt. is fighting a valiant battle on Hiv / Aids front. Over 38 lakh Indians mainly in the state of Maharastra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland have tested to be Hiv / Aids positive.

Workshop On Acting & Presentation For Children
On popular demand AAFT conducted yet another workshop on Acting & Presentation for school students.Twenty young participants of the workshop-all girls-learnt how films are made and television programmers produced.The trainers worked on the voice and speech of the participants and helped them to learn to make use of the body language for communicating messages.
The performance of the participants was recorded using professional grade equipment by the students of AAFT in Marwah Studios.Prof. Sandeep Marwah posed for a group photograph with the trainers and the participants of the workshop.
Anil Kapoor Visits AAFT
This year’ s winner of national award for best acting, the Superstar Anil Kapoor took time off his busy shooting schedule at Delhi to come to Asian Academy of Film & Television.Fresh faced with youthful looks ,slim and trim Anil Kappor has so far acted in more than eighty feature films since 1979.Anil Kapoor is indeed a gifted, creative , sophisticated, large hearted, worldlywise and an extremely private person.A matured actor who has played flippant to serious and challenging roles with perfect ease, has taken great pains to stay out of gossip mags.Anil Kapoor watchers attribute his career longevity and unprecedented success in the industry to a mix of passion for acting , hardwork, intelligence, instinct for survival and above all total commitment to the films.The national recognition of this down to earth superstar does not seem to have turned his head.Anil Kappor is deeply concerned about the pathetic condition of the rural masses and he is of the view that the power of films can be effectively used to build a happy, healthy and sane society.He also strongly believes that properly trained professionals are required for making responsive and responsible cinema.It is for these reasons that Anil Kapoor had agreed to be on the Board of Directors.Reviewing the training opportunities currently offered by this academy, he told Prof. Sandeep Marwah about the strong presence of and the good work being done by the AAFT alumni in the industry at Mumbai.Formally releasing the new prospectus of AAFT, he hoped that the day is not far away when the national award for outstanding contribution to media education will be bestowed upon Asian Academy of Film & Television.

AAFT ATTRACTS ATTENTION OF PRESTIGIOUS DUBAI MEDIA CENTRE
The ultra modern Dubai Media Centre had recently sent their representative to speak to the students of the world renowned Asian Academy Of Film & Television.Making a forceful presentation on the audio-visual production and post production facilities available at the Media centre, their visiting representative invited the students to participate in the first ever competition being organised there in october 2001 by sending their CV and the showred.The representative of the Media centre stated that the awards in certain categories include attachment to the headquarters of returns CNN for practical training.The representative of the Media centre also invited the students to do their professional work in Dubai and to explore the possibility of exploiting tremendous business opportunity offered by the Media Centre.Thanking Dubai Media Centre for identifying Asian Academy Of Film And Television as a potential centre for the training of film and television professionals, Prof. Sandeep Marwah commended the founders of this excellent facility in this part of the word and promised to pay a visit to the centre in the near future.
AAFT SETS WORLD RECORD IN FILM TRAINING
Film as a form of art or story telling highly subjective in nature and expensive to make and so is the training of filmmakers.it is for this reason the number of good film schools world-wide could be counted on the fingertips.Asian Academy of film & television(AAFT)is one amongst them.The cost effective training offered by AAFT had been attracting students from every nook and corner of India as well as numerous Asian, African,and European countries including the USA.AAFT alumni are now holding responsible positions in the production houses and television stations in Botswana, Mauritius,South Africa ,Sudan, Togo and the republic of yemen.AAFT has indeed established few world records in the field of film training by producing nearly 2000 professionals in a short span of eight years;providing over 500 hours of solid education and training and planning and production of close to 100 training films in each three month session.Another noteworthy feature of the programme for training is that beside the regular and visiting faculty,thirty to forty noted film and television personalities, journalists,intellectuals and public figures are also invited during the training session to interact with the students with a view to keeping their training in touch with the real world time frame of reference. INDO-ISRAELI CULTURAL FORUM FORMED
History in the international field of culture was created during the visit of Israeli theatre personality Madam Etty Resnik to the Asian Academy of Film & Television accompanied by Mrs. Shoshana Haim of the Embassy of Israel when it was decided after their meeting with the director of the academy Prof. Sandeep Marwah, to form Indo-Israeli cultural forum for forging closer bonds between the peoples of there two nations. Later addressing the students, Madam Shoshana Haim who is heading the cultural affairs department of her embassy, explained the evolution and the trends of Israeli cinema. She invited the students to participate in the film festival organized by the film school in Jerusalem. Madame Etty Resnik who is herself a coach at an Acting School, told the students that one has to indeed work very hard after learning the art & craft of theatre, film & television to survive in the trade. She went on to add that the performing artiste should never stop reading the heart and the mind of the people to excel in their work. She talked at length about the state of theatre in her country and lamented that world over there is no money in this field of performing art. She pointed out that a true artiste always feels like and hopes to improve over his or her performance. Etty Resnik ended her address by mentioning that the theatre provided the artistes with an immediate response to one’s performance and that she is into theatre by choice as this is her first love.
AAFT SAVES THIRTY – FIVE CRORES FOR THE NATION
Talking to the hon’ble former Prime Minister of India Mr. V.P. Singh during his recent visit to the Noida Film City, Prof. Sandeep Marwah explained to him the pioneering work being done by the Asian Academy of Film & Television in the field of media education and training. Prof. Marwah also mentioned him that this institution has just completed seven years of its existence. The distinguished visitor was informed that this institution has established more than one world record and it has helped the nation avoid wasteful expenditure to the tune of thirty five crores. Prof. Sandeep Marwah submitted to the honourable former Prime Minister that institutions like Film Y Television Institute of India Pune, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute Calcutta and Mass Communication Research Centre Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi being funded by the Central Government, are indeed white elephants and their contribution to nation building is debatable. Mr. V.P. Singh took keen interest in the education and training opportunity offered by this premier institution of its kind in the private sector and he complimented Prof. Sandeep Marwah and his team for rendering yeoman service to the nation. He was greatly impressed by the long list of most distinguished film & television professionals like former directors general of doordarshan, film stars like Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Satish Kaushik, and directors like Subhash Ghai, Vinay Shukla and Subhash Sagar and international film personalities like Gila Almagor of Isreal and Erma Fatima of Malaysia, associated with this institution. He was very happy to know about high success rate of AAFT alumni thus indicating the approval of the training being imparted at the academy, by the industry. In his forthright and forceful address to the students of Asian Academy of Film & Television veteran freedom fighter, formerly union and state minister and governor of several states Dr. Bhisma Narain Singh said that hardwork and the courage of conviction are keys to success in any field and that one should take courage to face the challenges in life. He asked the students to be proud of India’s cultural heritage and remarked that the nascent Indian democracy is indeed one of the wonders of the world. He further said that there is no dearth of talent in the country and Indians are undoubtedly one of the best people in the world. Pointing out that discipline is vital to the progress Dr. Singh urged the students to build a new, happy and prosperous society, by their work. Earlier welcoming the distinguished guests, the director Prof. Sandeep Marwah said that by now AAFT has set up its counselling officers in nearly twenty countries of the world. Speaking on this occasion, the renowned creative writer and the newspaper editor Kamleshwar said that a godfather in the professional world may prove to be counterproductive. He asked the students to ensure that the social fabric is not damaged in anyway by their creative work. K. M. Hooda former minister in the Haryana govt. pointed out that life is full of tensions and entertainment helps in relieving the tension. He advised the students to use their artistic ability to create truly entertaining films and television programmes. The award winning documentary maker Arun Chadha told the students that currently there is great demand for non-fiction films and television programming. Prof. Misha Nedeljkovich of College of Journalism and Mass Communication, of University of Oklahama, USA, who was visiting the academy also addressed the students. Ms. Himani Dutta, an alumnus of the academy attributed her success in the professional work to the education and training received by her at this institute. The inaugural function of the twenty-eighth session of the academy ended with the vote of thanks to the distinguished guests and the members of the press by Prof. Suresh Jangida.
FATHER OF INDIAN TELEVISION IN ASIAN ACADEMY OF FILM & TELEVISION
Septuagenarian eminent broadcaster, the first executive producer and formerly director general of doordarshan Mr. Shailendra Shankar was the chief guest of the function organised to bid farewell to the electronic media trainees of the twenty-seventh batch of Asian Academy of Film & Television. In his thought provoking address Mr. Shanker called upon the outgoing trainees to try and build a modern, happy and prosperous society through their work. He advised them to do responsive and responsible television programming using their creatively. Earlier welcoming the distinguished guests, the director of the academy Prof. Sandeep Marwah mentioned that this institution has helped the nation avoid wasteful expenditure of at least Rs. 35 crores (8 million US $) bysystematically training nearly 1600 men and women over a period of seven years in a cost-effective manner. He further added that the dream of the founders of AAFT to make it a truly international institute has been realised by the sincerity, dedication and hardwork of its management and the faculty members. Prof. Sandeep Marwah reiterated his commitment to maintaining excellence in film and television training. The distinguished I.T.expert from the USA, Mr. Matthew Lewis who was the guest of honour of the function, said that currently television industry is the fastest growing industry in the world. He expressed his hope that with the availability of English knowing, properly trained and, technically competent professionals, foreign film and television producers will like to do their work in India. He assured the audience that Asian Academy of Film & Television is undoubtedly one of the fines film schools in the world. Colonel N. S. Behl, Chairman, Harmony Trust – a voluntary organisation set up to provide support to those affected by militancy – said that the acid test of the acquired knowledge is to put it to effective use. He advised the outgoing trainees to be ever modest, self-respecting and self-reliant. Colonel Behl cautioned them against mindlessly copying others work and asked them to be innovative and to develop a style and class of their own. Four outgoing trainees were awarded Master Diploma in Visual Communication at this function. Prof. Harsh Vardhan, Course Director, announced that the twenty eighth session of AAFT will commence from 3rd July 2000.
